Had to install the new battery that comes with the pedometer per the description. (Need a little screwdriver, but it there is a separate compartment for the battery to go into, so no messing with the electronics). Removed the old battery, and it fired right up. Pedometer counts steps, distance (does not allow stride input) and calories burned (no weight Input). Overall accuracy is nothing to compare to that of a PE318 or HJ112 Pedometer, but if you are looking for an inexpensive activity monitor this is a decent product for the price.
