Maximize your workout efficiency when jogging or hitting the gym with the Beurer PM 80 advanced heart rate monitor watch. Sporting a stylish silver and black housing, the PM 80′s skin-friendly chest strap takes precise EEG heart rate measurements–including average and maximum heart rate–and then transmits them to your watch via interference-free digital signals. As a result, you’ll receive valuable feedback on your workout with every step, letting you know when to push a little harder and when to back off.
The PM 80 includes a software package for analyzing your workouts. |
The PM 80 also lets you set individual training ranges, with an alarm that sounds when you exceed or fall under a specific heart rate zone, along with a “time-in-zone” function that tells you how long you’ve spent in, above, and below the training zone. And as with many of the more sophisticated heart rate monitors, the PM 80 comes with a PC interface and a handy software package, so you can analyze your workouts after the fact and easily plan new ones on your home computer or laptop. In the process, the PM 80 calculates both your calorie and fat consumption (in kcal and g respectively) and your basic and active metabolic rates (in kcal), putting even more data at your fingertips.
Other features include all the standard watch displays (date, time of day, and day of week); a bicycle mounting bracket; five fitness levels; a built-in stopwatch; automatic training zone suggestions; a waterproof housing (to 50 meters); and a lap tracker that provides up to 50 lap times. Speedbox compatible, the watch comes with a storage box.

I could not get this to work and returned it. for one it needed a PC computer to work and I have a Mac. This was not made clear in the ad in any way.

Love the look of the watch even though it is a bit thick and clunky, but could never get it to pickup the transmition from the chest strap. I wore the strap for 4 hours and the watch never picked up on signal.

I bought the Beurer PM 80 Heart Rate Monitor Watch for my husband for his birthday. He has a sports watch that monitors his heart rate but he was after something that could be worn when he was at work in the office.
He loves his Beurer’s sleek European design and the fact that it wasn’t chunky like his sports watch. This watch monitors your heart rate, calorie consumption and it looks great! My husband couldn’t be happier, he wears it everyday! I would recommend this watch to everyone!

I recently purchased this HRM. Below were the criteria on how I decided and a few comments to help others if they decide to purchase one.
1. Design. I didnt get to see the actual watch before I purchased this. From the picture it looks very nice. When I got hold of the watch, design is good but not very much as i expected. The metal body is not very solid (comparing it with a Seiko divers watch or one of the sport Nike watch I have). The metal body feels like plastic. The watch is very light because of this but still the overall design is good enough. The design is still one of the best of all the affordalbe HRM’s I did a research on.
2. German brand. I trust German brands most of the time so I expect the performance is would be great. It works perfect on running but when I used it for swimming, the signal gets interrupted during the lapse and I had to stop for to get the HR readings. I didnt expect this to happen since it transmits through a digital signal. I can still use it for swimming though not just in a way I expected. the watch and the chest strap are waterproof.
3. Price. With the above it is still a value for money since the HRM works and I can use it for running and swimming.

I bought this watch with the speedbox and scale. It took some time and reading and rereading of directions to set up (I consider myself fairly tech-savvy), once it was set up, it was great! I wore the watch everyday (it is definately on the larger side, especially for a woman) and received many compliments on the watch from colleagues (I work in a corporate business environment).
It was extraordinarily useful to calculate my fat-burn heart rate (my goal) and I used it in HR mode 3-5 times per week. The battery died within 7 months and I have not replaced as yet. Accuracy was good, I compared to the Polar HR monitor on the equipment I used and found the two ratings to be equivalent. The chest strap definately requires moisture (I would moisten a towel and then apply to monitor) and you must reset the mode to pick up HR (another reviewer mentioned that the monitor did not pick up for four hours, I found that pushing the buttom to walk through the differnet modes once the chest band was on was the fastest way to pick up HR).
