I had one of these leverage benches (different brand though) years ago and sold it for a gym membership. Big mistake! The gym trips were just too painful after a while and I began making excuses. Then I ordered one again. I’ve been known to get stuck quite often so I HAD to have a bench that allows me to use heavy weights (free weights) without killing/embarrasing myself. This is it!
The movement really is clean and natural. I mainly use it for Bench presses (flat and inclines, doesn’t allow decline), barbell curls (comes with a lil’ bar attachment for that), squats and military pressing, dips and even chin-ups! It works great for each one of those without a hitch! It allows me to continue using heavy weight … BUT I wouldn’t trust going too far over the 300 mark. It’s comfortable and works smoothly, too.
One con comes to mind … I spent almost a whole saturday piecing humpty-dumpty together! Wasn’t too bad, but still worth deducting a star I reckon. Don’t let it discourage you, just be prepared for it.
It’s very sturdy and is well built, the instructions were accurate and somewhat painless, but heavy duty no doubt! Totally Worth It! Better than lifting 75-90 percent of your potential because you’re scared of getting stuck!
Yeah, I tried the Total Gym (not too bad), the bowflex’s and even dumbell only workouts … but none of them made me feel like I was getting total benefits from ‘em! The bands and the pulleys were cute for a while, but then they wore out or parts broke or it was unstable, etc. Just wasn’t for me I guess.

Product is well constructed and a great value for the purchase price. Not industrial or commercial grade, but well worth it’s $200 at the time of my purchase.
–I bought this because a previous home gym had a broken part it would have required me to pay around $80 just to ship it out, almost half of this bench. I realized it might be better to get a simpler exercise unit and this is it.
–If you are looking for a home gym, give this item a shot. It’s more a bench than a home gym, but so worth it if you want something that will last a lot longer than something more complex. At least this is in my opinion.
–It’s leverage system makes your exercises very safe. It may not be as “quick” as some other gyms, but I’m sure some of us won’t mind that.
–It only took me about 2 hours or less to put together I think. That may be because I’ve assembled more complex ones before, and had a little stint as a gym equipment maintenance guy. Do as the manual suggests and it should be very easy for you. Hand tighten while you assemble and keep things loose, than tighten when all is put in place.
–The manual can be a bit vague in some parts, but keep in mind some areas should be very tight with the bolt well trough the nylon nut, and some just past.
–I bought this bench and some strengthening/stretching bands. You can use the “spine” of the bench when you use the bands. Amazon sells some, pick up a few while you’re at it to make it a better experience.
–If you buy this for yourself, I doubt you’ll regret it. And if you buy it for someone else, I am sure they’ll love you for it. But they’ll have to get their own plates.
–Some minor hiccups…I had one bolt that had it’s end filled in, but was able to contact the bench maker and had them ship out a replacement bolt. Fantastic! Also, I do believe you will need a larger allan wrench for one of the bolts. Where the bench base connects to the “spine”. They provide 2 allan wrenches for everything else, but this one bolt is quite large, but luckily I had one for the job.

I bought this a few months ago and have been using it since. It’s been great so far. It’s great for someone who wants to do some bench presses but doesn’t have anyone to spot them. So far I’ve been benching 140lbs on it. It can hold more. I’m not a professional weightlifter. I work out about 30 minutes a day. I was using the Total Gym, which is good for toning, but needed more resistance for the chest. This system has adapters that will let you put Olympic weights on them. Olympic weights are the ones with the bigger holes (about 2″ in diameter?). The price was cheaper than the other leverage benches I’ve researched. Haven’t used it for squatting or curls yet. The only two negative things are: 1. the bars are not aligned with my chest when I incline the bench a little. I kinda have to scoot to the edge of the seat. I’m 5’9″ if that helps; 2. The assembly was a little tricky. Their instructions weren’t as clear as those from places like IKEA. Good luck and have fun with it.

I bought this leverage bench at my local academy for $150. I was skeptical of it at first glance but I must admit it more than proved me wrong. Benching on it was very smooth and shoulder presses on it were buttery smooth as well. Also the small cross bar that comes with it is BRILLIANT! It allows me to do close grip presses as well as tricep extensions and curls as well. The only drawback I can see for this item is the total weight capacity. I’ve looked everywhere but I cannot find the total weight that this baby can handle. The metal that comes with is feels hollow so I’m guessing it problably cannot handle more than 300lbs without bending.
Though I am a serious bodybuilder and I still find this machine to be very helpful along with my power rack. It’s a great find at a great price. If you have the chance to purchase one do it you won’t be sorry.:)
