About Mio
The story of Mio began in 1999 when it was created by entrepreneur and mother of three, Liz Dickinson. Like many of us, Liz balances family and career, leaving little time for fitness. After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve her fitness goals and shed the pregnancy weight-gain of her third child, Liz turned to a personal trainer for advice. While working with a trainer, Liz realized the key to getting in shape and staying in shape is to practice smart eating habits, monitoring calorie intake, and using a heart rate monitor to ensure that she exercises at the right level. Liz realized there wasn’t a product available on the market that would easily help her follow her trainer’s advice.

Liz didn’t have time to read labels and carry a calorie journal in her purse, nor did she have much patience for the uncomfortable chest strap she had to wear to get her heart rate. She knew there had to be a better way, so Liz used her technology and marketing savvy to create Mio, the world’s first heart rate monitor to work without a chest strap. And, it didn’t stop with just heart rate, as Mio also has a patented calorie management system that offers a straightforward approach to managing your diet. With the help of Mio and a balanced diet, Liz was able to shed those unwanted pounds and gain the benefits that come with improved fitness: more energy, more vitality, and less stress, and help many others do the same with the creation of Mio’s products.

This heart rate monitor is perhaps the most user-friendly of the Mio range as it facilitates easy monitoring of calorie-output. The variety of timer functions means flexibility in the kinds of exercise that can be measured. Finally, the calorie input function for meals allows you to keep track of whether you are meeting the recommended range to lose weight. Truly the most heart-friendly Mio.

After much research, I decided to buy this watch to help me with my workouts. I thought it would be nice to have a more accurate system for counting my calories burned and my intensity. I waited almost 2 weeks (with the holidays) for this to arrive and I am very very disappointed. Not only is the watch massive (and I’m 6′0 tall), it just will NOT read my heart rate. I have tried everything. Moistening my fingertips, re-trying, waiting an extra 10 seconds for it to register and 90% of the time it still just won’t read. It is completely useless to me- I will be returning it as soon as possible.

I use this watch not only while I am working out but for school as well. It comes in handy since I am in nursing school and need a durable watch that can handle being banged around and run under water 1000x a day. I would recommend this watch to any one. It is very easy to use the heart rate monitor feature is a bit tricky if you are trying to calculate it while running, but eventually you will get the hang of it. I especially love the calorie burn counter!

This watch is pretty, fun, and really informative! I love using the heart rate monitor while I am working out, even my bootcamp instructor will ask me for my rate to determine if we should slow it down or turn it up!

I highly recommend this watch to anyone. I love it as a sports watch or just a cute digital watch for everyday wear.

I just recieved this..and it is as cute as it looks, though bulkier than my previous hrm(which still works just fine, but wanted to try a strapless one out). I have a lot of understandings to go thru before I can even use it. I think it’s a distraction to take your pulse the way you have to, because with my other, it is always on the screen as long as the chest strap is on.

However, the upside is being able to see the calories burned and I am anxious to see how accurate it is.
