I am really disappointed in this mat. I don’t do hot yoga; I practice in a regular hatha/ashtanga/kundalini studio, and when I sweat just the smallest amount my hands and feet slide apart around in downward dog and all the warrior positions. I wanted an eco-conscious mat, but I’m going to get a cheap plastic one rather than spend another 50+ on a yoga towel.

I love this mat. Besides the fact that it does smell at first, it eventually subsides. The selling point for me was that I’d be helping the environment & planting a tree with this purchase. It feels good to give back to mother nature.

After reading lots of reviews and looking at a dozen mats, this one fit what I was looking for at a price I was willing to pay. I didn’t find the smell offensive at all and it has in fact faded. The mat is a nice color (I have the black and blue one) and I like the way it feels. It is pretty thin, so if you are looking for one that is extra cushiony, this is probably not your mat unless you are going to layer another mat underneath. I am not sure if it’s just because I sweat a lot, but during my last yoga class I was slipping. I had just cleaned it before class so it might have been a little damp though, because I didn’t notice that much slippage during the previous classes. The next time I clean it I won’t do it just before class and I’ll see if it makes a difference. Overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend the mat.

I bought this mat by beginning 2009 and use it quite frequently. My overall satisfaction with the mat is OK, but no great love as I would have expected it, since it not only still has the weird smell, but most of all slips with each class more and more, no matter what I do. So if you want to get your downward dogs right, be prepared for slipping.

I am pleased with this item overall. It’s a good heavyweight and its a little bit sticky which i got used to quickly. The green color is a little darker than it looks in the picture but still nice. Easy to clean. But its pretty heavy and I work in the city so its not practical for me to carry around such a heavy mat with me. Last, thing is the odor is very strong for about a week. I left it rolled out on the floor for a while and now it seems to be fine. I did a lot of reading reviews before i purchased and overall I am satisfied but its not perfect.
